Euro Weekly Outlook: The Top 10 EUR Related Events Jan. 3 – 7

NEW YORK (Forex News Now) – The FNN team has prepared a list of the top 10 economic events most likely to impact EUR and make realtime forex news during the coming week, Jan. 3 – 7.

All times are given in GMT.

1. Final manufacturing PMI: Monday, 9:00 A.M.Markit will release the monthly level of its index based on surveyed purchasing managers in the manufacturing industry, a leading indicator of economic health. Previous: 56.8; Forecast: 56.9.

2. German unemployment change: Tuesday, 8:55 A.M. – Destatis will release data on the monthly change in the number of unemployed people during November. Previous: -9k; Forecast: -14k.

3. CPI flash estimate: Tuesday, 10:00 A.M. – Eurostat will release data on the change in the price of goods and services purchased by consumers in December, a key component of overall inflation. Previous: 1.9%; Forecast: 2.0%.

4. Final services PMI: Wednesday, 9:00 A.M. – Markit will release the monthly level of its diffusion index based on surveyed purchasing managers in the services industry. Previous: 53.7; Forecast: 53.7.

5. Industrial new orders: Wednesday, 10:00 A.M. – Eurostat will release data on the change in the total value of new purchase orders placed with manufacturers in November, a leading indicator of production. Previous: -4.2%; Forecast: 1.6%.

6. PPI: Wednesday, 10:00 A.M. – Eurostat will release data on the November change in the price of finished goods and services sold by producers. Previous: 0.4%; Forecast: 0.3%.

7. Retail sales: Thursday, 10:00 A.M. – Eurostat will release data on the monthly change in November of inflation-adjusted retail sales, a primary gauge of consumer spending. Previous: 0.1%; Forecast: 0.3%.

8. German trade balance: Friday, 7:00 A.M. – Destatis will release data on the difference in value between imports and exports at the end of November. Previous: 14.3b; Forecast: 14.5b.

9. Unemployment rate: Friday, 10:00 A.M. – Eurostat will publish the percentage of the total work force that was unemployed at the end of November. Previous: 10.1%; Forecast: 10.1%.

10. Final GDP: Friday, 10:00 A.M. – Eurostat will publish final data on the change to inflation-adjusted gross domestic product at the end of the third quarter. Revised data: 0.4%; Forecast for final data: 0.4%.
