Indicator analysis: U.K. claimant count jumps in September

Indicator analysis - workers queingNEW YORK (Forex News Now) – The number of Britons claiming unemployment benefits jumped higher than forecast in September, official data showed on Wednesday in one of the day’s spotlight realtime forex news events.

In a key report for indicator analysis, Britain’s statistics agency said the U.K. claimant count rose by 5,300 during the month, after rising a revised 3,800 in August.

Analysts had expected a more modest increase of 4.3 percent in September, two currency market trading news outlets reported.

However, the disappointing report was offset somewhat by data on the U.K. unemployment rate, which dropped unexpectedly in September, and average earnings in Britain, which rose more than forecast.
