Schaefer City Technologies Launches CityConnect Platform

Schaefer City Technologies, an InsurTech company, has launched NaVel™, its first software product aimed at helping insurance firms identify claims that have the potential to result in a “nuclear verdict”. A nuclear verdict refers to an unusually high jury award that exceeds what would be considered reasonable or rational. Some define a nuclear verdict as any penalty that exceeds $10m, while others consider it to be a much higher and disproportionate figure.

Schaefer City Technologies is committed to assisting insurance firms and their defence counsel in detecting and preventing nuclear verdicts.

The NaVel™ software utilizes advanced machine learning technology that is currently patent-pending. This software is designed to integrate with existing insurance software and uses over 10 million data points to provide predictive analytics on tens of thousands of cases that resulted in Nuclear Verdicts®. By matching these key traits to insurance claim files, NaVel™ can determine the likelihood of a Nuclear Verdict® without requiring input from claims professionals. Importantly, NaVel™ does not store any claims data.

Robert Tyson, the Chief Business Development Officer at Schaefer City Technologies, has stated that NaVel™ was developed to help insurance companies save billions of dollars by providing an early warning system that allows claims professionals to have a well-informed discussion with management and outside defence counsel on the best strategies to pursue. NaVel™ could potentially save insurance companies billions of dollars each year on settlements, trial verdicts, and litigation costs. Another InsurTech start-up, Obie, has been chosen as Nestment’s insurance partner for streamlining the insurance process for co-buyers. This company has a bunch of offers for real estate companies to manage risks more effectively.
